am not sure they will include this patch because the design is not 100% tested and complete.

shouldn't  the arrows pointing at the lenses be at the bottom? it seems like those items (lenses) are affecting the top bar.

however is a start :)

I've file a bug to move the Lens bar to the top.
Also submitted a patch.(very trivial change in code)
However, there seems to be no response either on launchpad or from the ayatana-dev list which i also mailed.
