Reducing brightness and/or contrast of the entire non-focused windows
is a bad idea, as they might contain text you actually want to read
(e.g. documentation about XPath, while you rip your hair out over XSLT
in Emacs), or images of apples and oranges that you need to compare.
All the chrome is fair game, the content areas are not.
