anyway, if I have both:
(add-hook 'vm-presentation-mode-hook 'turn-on-visual-line-mode)(setq vm-fill-paragraphs-containing-long-lines 'window-width)
things work fantastically well.  one of the two seems not enough.  and it seems that the documentation (vm.info file) still reflects the old way of doing this, as you probably know.

thanks also for fixing the jumping cursor problem.  admittedly I haven't seen it in a while, but it used to drive me crazy last year...  :-)

when set to this value, filling is done for a width that's some 10 characters larger than the actual window width, instead of a few characters shorter.
