There's one difference: vm-decode-mime-encoded-words does a
"(goto-char (point-min))", while vm-decode-mime-message-headers
doesn't. I'll check all places where the two functions are called.

Done, revision 716 in trunk. Is your plan to release 8.1.1 from branch
8.1.x, or from the trunk?

The bug was already present in vm-7.19 and occured only with special
mail headers. So I think it's a minor issue.
