I don't know.  Since the limitation is in the GUI toolkit, I presumed
that XEmacs might have the problem as well.  We will know for sure if
you can install XEmacs and test it.  I don't have access to a machine
running GTK.

We can leave it out for now if you find it too much work.  But it is
probably best to be done with it once and for all, and instead of
having to come back to it later.
