I think that this qt3-python you have done UI is a very nice piece of
work, however it is not ready for release. Also people who will
upgrade to new version will receive some kind of "User Shock". This
is why I think that old one and new one should coexist.
Besides, what's the purpose on removing old but still _working_ (and
tested) interfaces?
When we get qt4 UI we will remove the qt3 ones only when keeping them
up to date will become troublesome, but before that we will mark it
deprecated. This is called smooth-transition. You know that :)

so I say - don't make it to be a transition. Make it an improvement
by adding a new python - qt interface.
In qt4 there is a nice feature which allows moving MDI windows
inside/outside of a main window. By this way the user can decide if
he wants all windows inside the main one, or if he wants them
outside, a quite convenient thing I'd say.
