Hello,

I was in the fortunate position to make a calculation speed test forPFC and YADE on one and the same machine (Intel Xeon 8-core 3,2 Ghz).I think the results (see attachment) are interesting for all of you.

The models consists of a regular cubic assembly of 1000 (andaccordingly 8000 balls) and a slight angular planar wall underneath. Alinear contact model with a stiffness of 1e6 for the balls and 1e8 forthe walls was chosen.

To make the results comparably the calculations were performed withoutgraphical user interface and only on one core. Also no othercalculations were performed during this speed test. The samegeometries, parameters and model specifications were used for bothprograms.
