Hi Jérôme, thanks for this proposal. See some answers below. On 09/29/2017 01:11 PM, Jerome Duriez wrote:
Now at least it is published (https://www.mail-archive.com/yade-dev@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx/msg12581.html). Maybe you'd like to start a discussion by regular emails to the yade-devs instead of a public mailing list, for future discussions.a possible "Call" for the workshop (not published anywhere yet).
As a side note, and depending on the success to the call (when launched), I could try to plan some half-day session "YADE specials" gathering very technical presentations/discussions on YADE itself, or YADE-based scientific presentations at the scientific margins of the workshop.I would thus call it a workshop on "earth dams and levees", with a "margin session" on yade. It can make a great workshop for sure, but not really a "2nd yade workshop". Even you seem to be unsure that a 1/2 day session specific to yade will actually happen. In this case I doubt that people not interested in levees would reply to the call at all, and then the margin session has no reason to be. To be honest I'm surprised and I don't understand really the need for such a narrow scope. IRSTEA itself has a substantial activity on slope stability, snow avalanches, rockfalls, impacts, structural dynamics, rheology, sediment transport, reinforcement by roots/gtx, and many other things in which DEM is relevant. Is it bad if the workshop has a scope broader than your specific position? And if the scope goes beyond IRSTEA's topics (there are plenty applications of yade in process/chemical engineering)?
Again, I'm sure such workshop can be very interesting, and I would happily attend. However it is not clear to me why you would entitle the event "2nd yade workshop".
Cheers Bruno
