It works for me (and AFAIK for other people as well). You don't even
need by ssh key to make checkout in the first place. Aren't you behing
firewall?

Try "bzr co --lightweight
http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~yade-dev/yade/trunk"; to make sure it works
over http at least.
