Re: [Question #262752]: spheres rotations go unstable

Question #262752 on Yade changed:
https://answers.launchpad.net/yade/+question/262752

Chareyre proposed the following answer:
Hello,
The time step determination is no magic, it depends completely on the
contact law behavior, thus not a surprise that tricking a contact law
leads to inadequate result from GSTimeStepper.
For viscous interactions, see the recent discussion [1] and previous
messages in the same thread - see also the documentation of the
timeStepper and especially "viscEl".
The interactions must provide relevant values of kn, ks, cn, and cs.
When the values are provided correctly GSTS will find the right
stability condition.
It will not differ from the dt you can find by trial and error though,
it is just meant to avoid the trial-and-error. If your stable dt is very
small you'll have to live with it, or change the mechanical parameters
of your material if possible.
