Hi,
Installing yade-daily (in fact yadedaily) and compiling yade from sources are two different things (as explained in installation page). In your question the two things are a bit mixed.
It is certainly possible to compile yade on Linux Mint.
It may not be possible to install the precompiled package "yadedaily" (I don't know, really, if linux mint is really based on xenial it should be possible).

And yes, the ppa repository was for older versions, you don't need that.

Please be specific on what you are trying to achieve. There is in fact
no part related to installation in your message...
