OK, fair comment.  Although, given that (lack of) background, I'd expect
someone who hasn't done a release of this kind before to ask the rest of
the team for help and advice on the process, and getting team agreement
on what the appropriate release process is, before attempting a combined
application and packaging release solo, though :)

I replied in a different thread with two sets of steps that each form a
suggested release process for both application and packaging.  If the
team agrees to adopt these, or something like them, then that should
help with this.
