After installing Ubuntu 13.10 I'm unable to get the OS to register the
touchpad. I haven't installed Ubuntu on this machine before, so I don't
know if the problem is only related to this version.

I have tried installing the psmouse alps 1.3 drivers using this guide
http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=95940, but this has not
changed the recognition of the touchpad.
