Open source always costs somebody something to write it.
It may just be that there aren't that many people
who are interested in hardware and that also happen to be great
C++ programmers, or maybe only few of them care enough about
Free software. But maybe those people are around and there's
just something else that keeps them from contributing.
I wonder how gEDA "the competition" is doing in this regard.

If there were many more developers, it would be harder to get along. I
quit the last open source project that I was part of.
More developers ?
Or
More developer - hours?
I'm thinking the latter is better.
