What? You expect people to RTFM?  ;)

I just tried selecting the caliper tool, then I held down Shift-Ctrl and 
tried to use the tool. It still snapped to grid points and the angle of the 
line would only change to a multiple of 45 degrees. Is there a different key 
combination used under Linux?
