I may be the only person who actually runs this use case, but I visit
project pages to see what's happening on it: is it using the bug tracker
actively (proxy being new bugs reported), and so on for each of the
applications. I do it because I want to understand how much of Launchpad
the project uses in practice, because I want to see if the project is
alive, and finally, because I want to know what sort of software that
represents.

That's a really tricky question. I think if we did have webhosting, and
we put it on a separate domain name (similarly to what SF does), the
page would have to prominently link to it. Another idea is having a part
of the page reserved for wiki or custom content, and then some fixed
content. Yet another is having a default but completely customizable
page (like smugmug.com does) that lead into application pages that are
for specific functionality.
