There are near term plans to have Ensemble spawn LXC containers
directly. It could, in theory, drive OpenStack locally with the AWS/EC2
API.

I know I have found formula creation quite a bit more straightforward
than puppet or chef, as it doesn't involve learning any new tools
(formulas are just scripts in whatever language you want, run at the
right time with the right info available). I'd be interested in helping
turn whatever dev setup scripts you guys use into launchpad formulas.
