Re: [Launchpad-users] Blueprints in Launchpad?!

Hi,

I'm pretty new to this, but maybe my newness is a qualification
here - at least I'm looking at blueprints with new eyes. :-)

I read some of the examples you pointed to and they just seem
like suggestions to me. I didn't imagine using blueprints for
that purpose.

When I set up my projects, I assumed that any blueprint we
created would have a specification attached - in fact that's
an alternate name for a specification. We created some without
a true spec but only as a placeholder. The person creating
the blueprint will go back and fill in the full spec, then
it will be reviewed and approved.

I find this *very* useful. In fact, in an earlier version
of my project, I used a wiki with specially modified code
to provide a primitive form of what blueprints do.

BUT I never imagined blueprints as being a place for
wishes, ideas without solutions or bugs. Maybe the biggest
problem is that there is nothing in Launchpad to encouorage
you to avoid using them that way.

BTW, the problem you mention is not unique to blueprints.
I've seen sourceforge projects with lots of feature
requests that are never acted on. I think it's a question
of project discipline, not of the facility.
