Possible explanation: I updated isolinux.bin in the image file which is
used as part of my Lubuntu ISO creation process, for the 20110228 ISO.
That same updated file is now part of Alpha 3.  The newer isolinux.bin
apparently works better on Mikhail's test machine than the older one did.

That explanation is a somewhat unsubstantiated guess, but it fits the
evidence :)
