Re: Fwd: Changes in Ubuntu releases decided by the Ubuntu Technical Board

You have great ambitions, amjjawad. Good luck :-)

I want to help in this project, but I'm busy being a parent, and I can
easily get very occupied. There are periods, when I have time, and I can
certainly test Lubuntu on hardware of different age. I hope I can also
contribute in discussions and plans to develop Lubuntu. I am also trying
to help people at the Ubuntu Forums to run Lubuntu and/or Xubuntu on old
hardware.

And I think Lubuntu is not only for old computers with slow CPUs, small
RAM and small or full hard drives. It is also offers a possibility to
play high definition video on 'middle-aged' computers, where standard
Ubuntu is too heavy for such tasks. Lubuntu offers another balance
between speed and eye-candy that suits many end-users. Maybe we could
offer a meta-package to include extra/alternate software for such users.
(I do it now by installing xubuntu-desktop and the individual packages,
but it is not optimal, e.g. there are several doublets in the menus.)
