[10.04] - To Be or Not To Be - deep digging and testing

Dear all,

As discussed earlier last month:
Email 1 <https://lists.launchpad.net/lubuntu-comms/msg00256.html>
and
Email 2 <https://lists.launchpad.net/lubuntu-comms/msg00258.html>

I'm now typing this email from Lubuntu 10.04:

   - It is updated 100%
   - "ubuntu-restricted-extras" is installed (Lubuntu 10.04 has no
   lubuntu-restricted-extras)
   - Firefox: 20.0
   - Chromium: Version 25.0.1364.160 Ubuntu 10.04
   (25.0.1364.160-0ubuntu0.10.04.1)

I installed these packages:

   1. gnome-system-monitor
   2. gnome-screenshot
   3. Firefox
   4. English Dictionary for Firefox

My fstab got messed up the other day so the system is running with
absolutely NO SWAP (SWAP OFF - I want to do heavy tests so I won't enable
it now), yet it is very stable and the performance is amazing See

.

Okay, we all know that Lubuntu 10.04 wasn't LTS.

As per Ubuntu Releases Wiki <https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases>, May 9, 2013
(Desktop EOL) April 2015 (Server EOL)

So, basically, my current system where I'm writing this form should have
reached its End Of Life (EOL) because it is a NON-LTS Lubuntu Release.
However, according to my
understanding<http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UHaglolwDQY/UV1a_gxAmLI/AAAAAAAAAVw/Q30HJsh3seA/s1600/lubuntu+vs+ubuntu.png>,
the core system is indeed an LTS and hence I'm supposed to received
all
the security updates for 10.04.4 as far as I can tell.

NOW, moment of truth.
To Be Or Not To Be?

Is this a secure system? is this an LTS system? what are the risks of
running this? and so many questions I'd like to be discussed here.

I'm doing all this *for one good
reason*<https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Lubuntu/PreviousReleases#A10.04>:)
Rather than that, I would never bother or waste my time but I seriously
need to have a straight, clear, logical and understandable answer for this
case.
I mean, *why would we even keep 10.04 Link on our Wiki if this is all
useless* <https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Lubuntu/PreviousReleases>?

I'm sorry if I'm nagging too much or asking too much but I do care about
our users a lot and above all, I seriously feel lost every time the LTS
Topic is brought to the table of discussion.

My current machine where I'm testing all this is very much capable of
running 13.04 without any problems as far as I can tell.
I wish I have an old machine that Lubuntu 10.04 is the ONLY way to go but I
don't.

Thank you so much for reading!

P.S.
Again, I'm doing this for our users first of all and for me/everyone to
understand more :)
