Re: Vivid desktop amd64 does not boot on MacBook Pro
Lars:
Had the chance to download the daily for vivid yesterday and I "burned" it
to a USB drive . . . using LM17 USB disk creator on my '10 MBPro. I also
have rEFInd installed. Booted up using the option key and I got two FW
icons labeled as "EFI boot" . . . I picked the first one. There were some
error messages, but it kept going to GRUB and then the desktop. GUI was
fine; for the most part everything worked, looks much like 14.04 DE. The
Time & Date process went faster than in 14.04. The only "problem" I found
in rifling through stuff was that clicking on Light Locker Settings, the
window did not open. So, for the 2015210 build I did not have the same
problem with boot from USB.
While I'm typing, I also got the PPC daily and burned it to DVD and booted
it in my iBook G4 using "live" and also got to a clean res GUI, but after I
opened FF and checked the Time/Date the screen froze, no mouse control. I
rebooted using the "live-nosplash-powerpc video=ofonly radeon.agpmode=-1"
terms . . . and so far I've been able to use the DE with no problems.
