Please allow me to offer yet another suggestion.
The Freemind plugin that can be used in Plone 3 is Flash-based. Flash is
not (going to be) very well supported, see
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adobe_Flash
So if I were you I would try to visualize the xmind-files using the HTML5
canvas element; that is not only beneficiary to the MLHIM project, but I
think that would also help your future career way better than investing
time in Flash.
