Andy,
I figured out who the author of the clapboard animation is... Colin Levy, the director of Sintel!  I contacted him asking for permission to use the clapboard, as well as a theater animation I found online.  Here is his response:

"Absolutely!  I'm okay with both .blend files mentioned below being
released under that license.  I look forward to checking out the next
release!

So, there you have it.  We have permission to use both of these .blend
files.  I am going to add them into OpenShot tonight.
