There were changes in qcserial driver that broke gobi_loader. There
were packages which provided necessary support for using gobi_loader
even with Lucid. Some of that might be listed here:

I did manage to get it going, but if you are not looking for trouble,
you can as well wait for Maverick (due on October 10th) where everything
should be fine.
