	Jesse from Intel updated my bug report earlier to indicate that he was 
making progress and would hopefully have a test kernel at some point tomorrow. 
This is good news, because this should be a "proper" fix for the Intel card 
not relying on secret handshakes and touuching your toes depending on how the 
machine is configured to boot and what panel you have.

	It's too early to say yet whether his updated code will work for 
everyone, but those who are still having issues may as well wait a short while 
to find out, rather continuing to bash their heads against walls in 
frustration! Unfortunately, a new kernel will still need to be installed ( and 
if I get time I'll create some .debs ) but it should at least mean that the 
next versions of the major distros should hopefully work out of the box.
