Re: New Kernel, 2.6.36-rc3-vaioz

 Hello Adam!

With the new kernel - yes, my VPCZ11 can now be booted without any fiddling with grub2.

The brightness controls work but I can't get Compiz to work yet.
The power usage is at 21Watts when typing this message.
DTS-0 temperature is at ~59.
here are powertop stats:

Cn Avg residency P-states (frequencies)
C0 (ЦП работает) ( 4,9%) Turbo Mode 0,0%
polling 0,1ms ( 0,0%) 1,74 ГГц 0,1%
C1 mwait 0,4ms ( 1,2%) 1,60 ГГц 0,4%
C2 mwait 1,9ms (11,1%) 1333 МГц 1,1%
C3 mwait 6,1ms (82,8%) 1199 МГц 98,4%

Wakeups-from-idle per second : 224,6 interval: 15,0s
Энергопотребление (по оценке ACPI): 20,8 Вт (1,7 часов осталось) (Долгосрочный:
24,1Вт,/1,5час)
Top causes for wakeups:
19,4% ( 87,9) [kernel scheduler] Load balancing tick
17,3% ( 78,2) kworker/0:0
14,2% ( 64,3) kworker/0:1

7,1% ( 32,0) Устройство USB 2-1.2 : USB Receiver (Logitech)
7,1% ( 31,9) [ehci_hcd:usb2] <interrupt>

Is there a way to improve the power usage?

Kind regards,
Vasilito

07.10.2010 16:08, Adam Hill:
Thanks to Jesse Barnes at Intel we're slowly getting there with Intel
graphics - he's now got a kernel which seems to work out of the box for the
Intel card with no fiddling around with Grub etc.

For people's convenience who may be using my files or are still having
issues, I've updated by .deb files in http://www.voip-x.co.uk/files/adam with
his latest and Norbert's module, plus my other fix for the hda-intel errors at
boot.

I seem to remember that someone mentioned a patch for the touchpad
detection too but I couldn't find it :(... so if anyone can point me at that
I'll update it again with that fix too.

I haven't extensively tested this and in particular don't know if it
still works for the NVidia card etc....

Adam.
