Desktop effects work in KDE, and they're normally more picky than compiz, so
I'm sure compiz can be made to work!

If I leave mine doing nothing for a while the usage drops to around 12W ( a
little more than the 2.6.35 kernel but not by much. ) Any sort of activity
pushes that up quite quickly though and that isn't using wireless. Just make
sure that everything that you don't need ( such as bluetooth and wwan ) are
off.
