Hi Eva,

I have the new VPCZ21V9E . After upgrading to kernel 3.1 RC4, and the entire mesa stack from git, I actually have a pretty functional pc :)>
you are a brave one... I am not sure I am up for upgrading from source ;-)
Yeah, it hurts sometimes actually :)

Mic, sound and webcam all works fine. Suspend / resume works fine with
an external monitor attached - have not tried without that.
mmh, I might look out for a sound driver update.
I still need to try external monitor.
I can now verify that resume does not work without external monitor. The computer is still alive, but noting appears on screen. I'm however able to switch to a TTY and halt the machine, so the rest seemingly works.

About the sound, I have alsa version "1.0.24.1" installed. Don't know if the arch people has patched anything though. I haven't done anything special with config files or anything.

Brightness controls works after installing the modified vaio-z kernel
module.
Most of this driver contains code to handle those 2 graphics card the old model
had (my husband and I created the first version). Maybe the original driver only
misses the model code to do the right thing. I'll look into this. It would be
great to merge our efforts upstream to the kernel, so that we don't have to
maintain a seperate code.
OK! :)

My click-pad works in the following way:
1. Click with one finger on it, and it's left click
2. click with two fingers on it, and it's right click

Yes, that's what I am doing as well. Even 3 fingers for middle click works. And scrolling. I am after clicking and click&drag though ;-)

I see, we probably have to yank some X developers?
Btw i'm running ArchLinux, so I probably won't be of much help if you're
running ubuntu.
Ah, I didn't try the archlinux patch, it looks a bit different. So now I know it
doesn't help :-)

Oh, and i'm having a hard time getting the ATI card in the
dockingstation to work, but i'm currently compiling the ati drivers from
GIT.
I don't have the dockingstation - I use the laptop on the sofa most of the time
anyways...
Best,
Eva

Best regards,

Nicklas Overgaard

Hi,
anyone out there who already had his hands on the new VPCZ2?

As my old Z was stolen I had to get a new one... so far things are not that
bad,
major issues are:
- clickpad not fully functional (keys don't work properly)
- brightness cannot be changed
- X broken after suspend (display all black)
- mic doesn't work (well, like we know that one)

Cheers,
Eva
