 Rubén,

First of all I would like to thank and congratulate you and the rest of your
team for your work on SpreadUbuntu. I believe a site like SpreadUbuntu is
long overdue and will be a cornerstone in the future DIY marketing of
Ubuntu.

I attempted to add my posters (currently available from
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MarketingTeam/Materials/) but unfortunately I ran
into a problem.

My posters are available as PDFs since they that way provide superior
printing quality as well as a smaller size compared to bitmap images and the
source code is in SLA-format (made with Scribus). I could easily upload the
source code as a zip-file, but I can not upload the PDFs as images! May I
suggest that you allow PDF as a format for huge images besides the bitmap
formats specified? I also find it weird that you allow pdf as source files
since pdf definitely isn't any source file format suitable for edit.

The way that would make most sense to me is if I could put a thumbnail image
as "Image", the PDF as "Huge Image" and the zip as "Source File". After all,
PDF is THE cross-platform portable format for print content, including
posters. Huge Images is in my mind a much worse solution for creating print
content although it should remain an option.

In many cases I also provide multiple versions of the same posters (with and
without tear-away-tabs, colorful or ink conservative versions), it would be
nice (but not necessary) if these somehow could be grouped together under
the same thumbnail and with the same source files. If not it would be nice
if you could advice me how you would like me to handle them (upload them
separately or maybe bunch them together in the source archive?)

Once again, I'm very glad you have put a first version of SpreadUbuntu
online and would gladly contribute with content.

Regards,
Tord Jansson

Hello fellow Ubunteros!

I am going to announce the first release of what in time will be come the
SpreadUbuntu Do-It-Yourself repository for marketing material. This is not
official yet, but calling it a usable alpha is not unfair.

I am asking all of you to tell all ubuntu enthusiasts about our project and
invite them to use it, to come to our site and thus get the repository
bigger and more relevant for the global ubuntu community! You can visit it
here: http://ubuntu.ec/su/drupal5/

I leave you the release announcement just below my signature.

Best regards,

Rubén Romero

After over two weeks of site tunning, bug fixing

coverage <http://ubuntupodcast.net/2008/11/08/ubuntu-podcast-episode-11/>(which,
by the way, helped test the site) let me introduce to you:

*SpreadUbuntu 0.1 - "evan"*

Evan <https://launchpad.net/%7Eedb82189> is by far the greatest contributor
to our project and the first release goes to him! Cheers mate!

*So what do we have here?*

*The short story:* SpreadUbuntu <https://launchpad.net/%7Espreadubuntu>, a
project by the Ubuntu Marketing
team<https://launchpad.net/%7Eubuntu-marketing>.
This release includes multilingual support and basic features of what in
time will become the DIY (Do-It-Yourself) part of the SpreadUbuntu Marketing
site. Among our features we have *download, upload and share all kind of
ubuntu marketing material so we can all go out and SPREAD ubuntu to the
masses!* Now you have no excuse for not having that flyer in your own
language, or the poster you saw *somewhere* on the internet!

If this sounds interesting please read *the long story.* It can be found
here <https://launchpad.net/spreadubuntu/0.1/0.1>.

Does this sound like something you want to be part of? The easiest way to do
it is to *use the site yourself AND to tell everyone about it!** *Besides
that you can put your hands to work and become part of SpreadUbuntu, we have
already plans for 0.2 <https://launchpad.net/spreadubuntu/0.2/+milestones>.
Our team <https://edge.launchpad.net/%7Espreadubuntu> and
project<https://launchpad.net/%7Espreadubuntu>are in Launchpad, and we
also have a space in the
UbuntuWiki <https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MarketingTeam/Projects/SpreadUbuntu>.

*I hear you say it, but where is all this awesomeness?*

Don't hesitate, you are NOT dreaming: *it's right
here<http://ubuntu.ec/su/drupal5/>
!*

You may kill our bandwidth, but hey, we can always upgrade our
slicehost<http://www.slicehost.com/>plan for a month or two. As for
the server I believe it will be up to the
task: It is after all running your favorite server
OS<http://www.ubuntu.com/products/whatisubuntu/serveredition> [image:

* Go UbuSpreaders(tm), go!*
