It's not so much that these should be avoided, but that the normal
rules don't really apply, and so they should only be touched
if you understand what purpose they serve and the process that
surround them.

I think the problem here is that the original reporter did not subscribe
the sponsors to their request, either because they forgot, or they are
not familiar with the process.
The information that you provided was exactly what was needed, and so it
would be fine to subscribe the sponsors after that.

That might well be the case. However, sync bugs are only really looked
at when the sponsors queue is subscribed, so the "Triaged" status
doesn't really make a difference here.
It's realised that having these things mixed in with bugs isn't ideal.
I hope this explains the problem, if not then please ask for
clarification.
