As you noticed, the "options psmouse elantech=1" hack only solves half of the problem.
Would you mind posting what you did with synclient to make everything work?

Admittedly, I haven't spent much time mucking with the elantech code
directly, so really the multi-finger touch commands are of little use to
me... but, hey, I'm just the kernel "delivery boy" :P
