Re: [Question #48189]: WiFi not working at all under 8.04.1

Question #48189 on Ubuntu Eee changed:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu-eee/+question/48189

Pizzaguy posted a new comment:
I'm definitely not into command prompts any more, be they under Windows or Linux. And most consumers don't even know what they're about. Linux developpers, or at least those that work on distros for the consumer market, should get that message under their thick skull.
XP did not work "out of the box" on my 700SD but, at least, the device manager showed me that the devices were found and that they needed a driver. Asus provides all the drivers for XP but none for Linux. It took me no time at all to install them without having to work any command prompt.
I applaud those that take the time and energy to come up with special packages for a particular brand and model of PC. Had such a package worked "out of the box" for my machine, I would have gladly dished out close to the same amount of money that I dished out for XP as I intended to do.
But it didn't.
I don't want to use Windows anymore, but the Linux community doesn't make it easy for me and a lot of consumers like me.
Too bad!
