Re: [Question #47766]: Boots into black screen with flashing underscore
Question #47766 on Ubuntu Eee changed:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu-eee/+question/47766
iain_m proposed the following answer:
I think the issue here may be that the EeePC BIOS is looking for GRUB
(the boot menu) in the wrong place.
I haven't found an absolutely reliable way of fixing this yet but try
pressing F2 repeatedly when you turn on the EeePC. This should bring you
to the BIOS. From there you can navigate to the boot options screen and
experiment with changing the order of the drives, then rebooting.
Another option is pressing Esc repeatedly, again when you turn on the
EeePC. You may find that this will only work immediately after a boot
into the BIOS as described above. Anyway Esc should bring up a list of
drives from which the EeePC can boot - try choosing a different one.
It's probably the case (based on my limited knowledge!) that the GRUB
loader is in the MBR of one disk (probably one of the internal SSD
drives) but the GRUB menu is on another disk.
Let me know if this helps...
