The idea with a name that don't need translation is good. "Ubuntu"
would be such a name. But the "problem" with "Ubuntu" is, that's not
clear, what it is, as Thorsten mentioned in his email yesterday. If a
newbie reads our manual he might think "Why is there on the
screenshots always the name of the Operating system?"

Yes, you are right. But here we would have the same newbie question
"What means 'Quickshot'?"

It would be again a name that need translation, e.g. "Ubuntu-Handbuch"
for German. I have no problem with translating it, but it is again not
clear that this string is the user name.

So we could take "user name" as Thorsten mentioned yesterday, too. Or,
if I understand Patrick right, we could use a placeholder name, for
example "John Doe" in English or "Erika Muster" in German. The big
advantage of a placeholder name is IMHO, that a newbie directly see,
that this string is a user name and not a technical term or whatever.
It looks like, that nearly every language has such placeholder names
[1], so every translation group can choose the right one for their
language.

Greetings, Carsten
