Hello everybody, I'm new on the UMP mailing list, but I wanted to explain the French community's point of view: We saw, five years ago, when we were selling "Simple comme Ubuntu" (in English, "Simple as Ubuntu"), a book written by Didrocks, that having a book made to help the people discovering Ubuntu was very useful. We sold thousand exemplars of this book. Unfortunately, for the 11.10, Didrocks had no more time, because of the work amount Canonical is giving him. So Ubuntu-fr stopped releasing this book. At the 13.10 Ubuntu Party Paris, I discovered the UMP, fully translated in French, and, the most important, easy to understand. The 28th June, Ubuntu-fr had its general assembly, we were told, by the board, to propose projects the -fr community could achieve. I though about the UMP: and I proposed it to the board. Everybody agreed to invest in the project. The idea is not to release a book for each version as we did with "Simple comme Ubuntu", but to release the book for LTS. If the community asks us for selling a printed version of the addendum for the minor releases, we will, of course, do so. But for the French community, there is a very high demand for a book about Ubuntu. The UMP is the solution. We need to continue publishing this fantastic book, the community asks us to do so. I agree with the ones who explained it's to much work to make an UMP version for every minor release. But then we have to publish a addendum, to explain the new functionalities in the release. So, as all French community's members, I strongly agree with both Pierre and Sylvie ;-) Merging with the docs team would be a fatal error.
