BTW, because we don't *want* to be rendering when the screen is off,
that's an orthogonal topic. Once the compositor takes the power events
over, we need to be able to turn the graphics hardware on, composite at
least one frame, and only then turn the display on, otherwise even the
time displayed could be wrong for a frame.
