Message #07489
Landing team 03.04.14
Hey,
List for today:
- fixes for some of our blockers! (including new ones)
- some devices that doesn't reboot always, making testing and real world
usage potentially difficult
- some new bugs detected related to the new scopes switch
We didn't get full test results on #274, as you can see on this mailing
list, devices are randomly getting down when being tested. Then, a
person needs to go over the power plug switch and try.
#275:
- support for creating and managing conference calls in
telephony-service and dialer-app
- some hud bug fixes to avoid eating up 100% of some CPUs
- some security fixes in apparmor for oxide
- multiple massive bootspeed enhancements in lxc-android-config
- small bugfixes for the wizard (not being used), tests and a tweak for
desktop in system-settings
- fixes in Qt for the account window manager
- multiple cleanup in content-hub
- some changes inherited from the ubuntu one file sync disablement,
langpack refresh, apt, packagekit, themes, unity7 services and so on…
-> Timo did some manual testing and results are available on this very
mailing list. Nothing special to announce. Dogfooders spotted 2 new
blockers.
On the blocker list:
** Music/Calendar bug (Qt event look stopping when the device is
suspend) (Saviq)
Discussion is happening and work is ongoing while discussing with
upstream. Was set as a blocker while whitelisted on the previous
promotion blocker.
-> Some more discussion on the mailing list. It seems it's discussed and
not going to be dropped from the plan soon. It may be not sensible to
put it as a promotion blocker to me. However, QA is going to make that
decision.
** Multiple crashes on images since the scope transition (Saviq/Thomas)
It seems as well that any application crashing can make Unity8 and other
services crashing. For this chain of issues, Dave opened:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mediascanner2/+bug/1298931
(Thomas) -> has been set incomplete
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mediascanner/+bug/1298950
(Thomas)
One of them is known
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity8/+bug/1256360) and is
under work.
-> We still have the same crashers when running the autopilot tests.
However, this one seems to only be when we force stopping unity8. So not
a blocker. Dave confirmed he can't reproduce the other issues and is
happy to whitelist it.
New blockers:
** Some phone are stuck while rebooting (Oliver G.)
This impacts the facility to be able to run the tests and can impact on
the user side as well (basically, you reboot and your phone is stuck in
the google logo). Investigation continues and are available on another
thread on the phone mailing list.
-> Oliver is pursuing his investigation and will followup with a bug
report. We share the work for trying to look if we missed that
regression even before #274 (nothing in that image can justify this new
issue and all packages have to be downgraded together or none due to the
surfaceflinger drop). So Alan, Dave, Oliver and Robert are all together
trying different older image version to see if we can spot anything.
At the same time, Alan mentioned that the UI is way slower than in #269.
He will get more details in a followup email (we will look at this
during the bisect).
New blockers set on the blocker list by QA:
** Scopes grey out and are unresponsive (Saviq)
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity8/+bug/1300326
-> This is hard to reproduce reliably but Dave is looking into it,
currently it happens on swiping the welcome screen and swiping apps to
close them
** Dead area at bottom when scrolling in scopes (Saviq)
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity8/+bug/1300302
Dead space. Sometimes in the click scope the applications will shrink to
3 1/3 lines instead of 4 and other time it will shrink to 1 this is a
user facing issue but is easily fixed by scrolling up. (but is really
obviously broken when you get hit by it)
* Issues not impacting on the user experience or whitelisted by QA as
not a promotion blocker:
** qtubuntu crash causing the dialer app to crash (only during tests)
(Kevin)
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qtubuntu/+bug/1297900
-> seems to only impact on tests, when the application isn't started by
upstart.
* Issues that have a fix on the way:
** Click Scope is showing "?" instead of characters (Thomas)
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity8/+bug/1300236 which was
a dup for
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity-scope-click/+bug/1298327
-> this one has landed now and should be on next image
** Duplicate applications appearing due to unique name (Thomas)
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity-scope-click/+bug/1279481
-> A fix is on landing as we speak.
That's it for today!
