Re: SDK planning

Hi,

The emulator is very much on the roadmap. The improvement of the emulator is distributed between many development teams. The emulator specific -gles packages are under a fundamental overhaul right now and you can expect improvements.

Anyhow, it is important to note that most of the cases you should not need a full system emulator like QEMU. QEMU is a great piece of software and it does offer valuable features... what most application and scope developers do not need. Most developers would be happy with a skinny and ligher UI simulator and that is exactly what the new LXD based runtime container will provide.

As an app/scope developer what we need is that when we hit the Play (Run) button in the IDE the application/scope will show up exactly as they would show up on a target device... may that device be a phone, tablet or a desktop. In the converged world the only difference would be te size of the display.

cheers,

It seems really nice. I just wanna suggest one extra line of work, that will be the emulator.

Right now the emulator its unusable, i cant tell for sure how many developers pretend to use it or want to use it for real app development, but in my particular case i do not have a physical phone since i dont have the money to buy one, so i cant develop an application. I want to develop a native facebook app, for that i need to use several integration starting from the online-account module.

As you can see the emulator is my only way to develop this app.

Hope it can be fit some time to work on that.
