Message #00605
[Bug 374472] [NEW] X won't start after installation of Nvidia drivers with two PCIe video cards
Public bug reported:
I have two GeForce 7300 SE PCIe cards and only one of them has a screen
attached.
After a clean install of Kubuntu Jaunty followed by the installation of
the Nvidia drivers (v 180) and a reboot, X would not come up. The error
message at the end of the log file is "Fatal server error: no screens
found".
I could get X to start after adding the BusID directive to xorg.conf:
Section "Device"
Identifier "Default Device"
Driver "nvidia"
Option "NoLogo" "True"
BusID "PCI:1:0:0"
EndSection
** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
