Sure, but I just want to make sure that building dolfin on top of Debian 
packages works. As both petsc-dev and libsuitesparse-dev are equally 
happy with atlas3-base and atlas3-sse2 (or some others, for that 
matter), it would be good if it worked. But I think that all is OK in 
that aspect, and that setting ATLAS_DIR would have solved your problem.
