Note that I think GNOME's release cycle is mis-timed with Ubuntu, so
releases would come out post-feature-freeze for Ubuntu.

I agree. I use git, bugzilla, bzr, and launchpad all the time, and
gtg's bzr/launchpad infrastructure has been really pleasant to develop
in.
