when I do eeschema | preferences | libarary, I see


Default library file path:

/opt/kicad/library



So my ks8695 library is obviously being found in the old software by 
virtual of some other search mechanism, it was first in the old software.


With new software:

now it is 2nd to last. (There is another library in the same directory 
as the *.sch files, and that library is listed last, even though it is 
not part of the project.)
