First i want to say that metric is standard in the world. This has a 
reason: All unites are logically structured and easyly convertable into 
other units of the SI system. Having both will just cause problems and 
will be confusing for everybody. So lets do it one time the correct way 
and stop unit-mesurement-problem 4ever! Lets fix it on one standard: Metric.

Second thing is to structure the libs logically and have a concept 
thought-trough.
Let me please give an example:
Resistor: We have one (and only --> unique) resistor symbol. Not 
thousands of them. In this resistor all possible footprints are linked. 
So when selecting the possible footprints are shown on demand. This 
speeds up developping time.
This includes my wish 4 component selection, i wrote some time ago. 
There you can select the footprints by categoryies. So theres one 
category TQFP and if you click on it, you will be shown the possible 
TQFP-Footprints.
