Thanks for the new script. This works for me with the 2.6.37-rc1
kernel. I don't have the problems with compiz when using the
Intel driver and sound that you report, with that kernel.
Re. the sound problem - is the device detected properly?
Have you tried running 'alsamixer -c0' in case it's a volume
initialization problem?
