Re: Z12 and 11.04

Hi everyone,

I'm running Natty on a Z11 (VPCZ11A7E), and I first want to thank
everyone on this list for all the valuable information coming through!

I put the "acpi_osi=" on the boot line, which successfully disables the
unused graphics card (and saves a lot of battery when in stamina mode).
Stamina mode working like a charm :-). Before that I had tried using
nVidia card with the drivers installed, but ran into the same problem as
John did :

Uninstalling the nVidia drivers fixed stamina mode (though no more accel
in Speed mode). I think the issue comes from the graphic libraries
getting relinked when a graphics driver is installed (libGLU.so.* and
libGL.so.* in /usr/lib/ and /usr/lib/mesa/). Adam's script solves this
problem I believe (by linking the correct library at boot-time). See his
readme here <http://www.voip-x.co.uk/files/adam/IMPORTANT_README>,
skipping the parts about his kernel and just reading about the switching
script. I read somewhere on this list that his script checks that his
kernel is installed, but that can be changed by editing the script
without any other issues as far as I recall. I think I'll try that out
some time next week.

I have a last question though : does anyone have the integrated flash
card readers working yet ? (MemoryStick & Co, and SD)

Cheers
Sébastien L.
