Hi,

Well this is embarrasing - I'd forgotten to install laptop-mode-tools. Have them now, and i have added the extra boot line.

My idle power consumption (with the screen on the lowest brightness setting) is now 7 watts which gives me close to the same battery life as in windows 7 :)

Ahh, interesting, Sandybridge problem.

According to this

thread it seems that adding the boot parameter
	i915.i915_enable_rc6=1
should fix these issues. There are some others, but if most things
mentioned in the thread are normally automatically done when you
install
	laptop-mode-tools
(you all have that, right?) like hda power saving etc.
