Hi,

Well this is embarrasing - I'd forgotten to install laptop-mode-tools. 
Have them now, and i have added the extra boot line.

My idle power consumption (with the screen on the lowest brightness 
setting) is now 7 watts which gives me close to the same battery life as 
in windows 7 :)
