Re: The History of ToriOS Websites
No, this is not a temporary solution
It is more permanent than your option...
because
under your paid for option with your friend what would happen
if/when he or you die or go bankrupt?

Hi George and everyone else,
On Mon, Jan 4, 2016 at 10:39 PM, George DiceGeorge <dicegeorge@xxxxxxxxxxx> wrote:
maybe you misunderstand me,
http://torios.dicenews.com/
is only set up as a temporary address

Its provided by http://www.hatters.org.uk/
Indeed I understood and that is why I sent more than one email to explain the situation and make things clear. We don't need temporary solutions. While it might seems weird/odd but I prefer our website to be down rather than waste time and energy on building a temporary website that might serve us few days.
You see, we have waited for so long to have a decent website. I'm personally not interested in temporary solutions and I think Nio agrees with me.
They are not ‘professional’ in the sense that they’re not asking for money,
however as its run by a co-op there is less chance of losing the space
due to a death or bankruptcy,
which is the case with small businesses which often overextend themselves.
I understand :)
Thanks for explaining!
However i suggest you retain control of the domain name just in case
(but what if/when whoever owns the domain name dies ??
(i’ve added mine into my will))
They dont offer cpanel,
but do forward an email address.
I’ve used them for many years for many websites without any major problems,
www.tlio.org.uk etc etc
The great news is:
https://austenite.co.uk/
Kris has updated his packages:
https://austenite.co.uk/forum.html#/discussion/4/new-better-pricing-and-ssl
It means, in case we agree, the amount of money that we are suppose to invest into ToriOS is less now :)
Oh, and we have 1 month for free.
And, we can upgrade or downgrade free of charge at any point.
torios.top is ready. I did not yet sign up for the server.
I am not sure how much traffic do we need but looking at the NEW starter package after the latest update, it sounds good option for us.
Yes, I think I can also provide emails or forwarders.
@Nio
I saw your other email. Couldn't reply though.
I agree with you, it is better to pay for 12 months (1 year) rather than 12 times every month.
I am NOT yet sure which package is good for us? assuming starter is good enough:
3 Pound/Month
36 Pound/Year
I am not sure who else is willing to donate beside Nio?
The more people we have, the less each one will pay per year :)

Subject: [Torios] The History of ToriOS Websites
Dear all,
Because some of us have misunderstood my email lately about donating for a server and get our website to live on, here is some CLEAR email to shade the light on the history of ToriOS websites :)
1.. torios.org was the first domain that ToriOS project got. However, the one who registered that domain had the entire access to the domain and server and none of us had full access, even me the founder of this project. One bad day, he disappeared and we have never heard of him ever again until this very moment. What happened to torios.org at the moment? check yourself: https://www.gandi.net/whois/details?search=torios.com and we have lost our dedicated email address. I had amjjawad@xxxxxxxxxx but not any more.
2.. Phill of the Lubuntu has donated a domain torios.net and a virtual machine where torios.net lived. However, because it was FREE and there is no obligations whatsoever except friendship and good will to help, that wasn't good enough to be honest. What happened to torios.net? check yourself. It has been down for so many times and we have not been able to share one single post on our website for ages now!
3.. Now, when I suggest to have a decent server with a decent company which is owned by decent man I vouch for him, when some money involved, some seem to refuse the idea. Sorry, but that's the one and only path I have in mind at the moment and as a founder, I find it the best path ever to avoid unneeded problems.
4.. NO to any temporary solution :) I am sorry if I'll sound rude to George but having something like: http://torios.dicenews.com/ is not decent at all. ToriOS is not a toy, it's a decent project and the website should be something to reflect that as well.
5.. I have myself tried the FREE solutions. http://kibo.computer/ was my business project. Out of 12 months, the website was down for 4 months total or more. Why? that's what happens when you think FREE solutions FTW. In fact, FREE is not always good at all :)
So, hopefully this will enlighten us a bit :)
If by any chance you have BETTER solutions/ideas, kindly share :)
HOWEVER, before you do, kindly keep in mind that ToriOS website should NOT be down for ages just because of whatever non logical reason.
We have a project to run, not a joke to tell.
