Re: Circle on the lock-screen
Just a random idea. How about if we treat the circle like a "window" to our apps to peek at minimal information and even initiate/perform simple tasks.Sorry I had to use the word window :D
So for example for audio apps such as music/podcast/audiobook players, show the album/show/book art as the background of the circle then show the title of song/podcast/audiobook as a text. Then maybe you can tap and hold the circle and a radial control will be displayed which lets you pause/play, forward or backward. This is similar to how Sailfish OS implemented action shortcuts in its multitasking/switcher page.If the music app is not open. then probably show the last played song and the possible controls are shuffle and continue last song queue.
This concept should be applicable with other apps like for example the calendar app will show your next event and the possible actions could be opening the event or show the next event.Other examples I can think of is for the phone/messaging app which will show the last persons you've interacted with and then you initiate a call or text to any of them.
Navigating between these could be by double tapping similar how it is now.Okay, I know you'd think this is like widgets but for me its not. It should be simpler, lighter and more direct and could be like how scopes are compared to apps ;)
I haven't really thought about this thoroughly so there could be some holes in the idea but it really does look good in my mind :D
Of course these are all optional and depends on the user's choice which ones he/she wants to show in the lockscreen. And this should only consume power when the screen is on ;)

being in the circle isn't just a matter of looking nice, on the BQ
devices and any future devices that implement a case with a cutout for
the circle then that is an area with visibility and touch sensitivity
whilst the case is closed that shouldn't do anything bad like pocket
dialling (unless you had a retro rotary dialler perhaps) or starting
music, or unlocking. The circle cutout should be treated like a really
important feature, because it is a unique selling point that other
platforms don't do.
