Hi Alexey,
As I said, I use a normal QWERTY or as well QWERTZ keyboard (the latter
on my FreeBSD netbook). With the attached key modifications I can type
fine: Мена зовут Мattиас.
O this too:
И снег, и ветер,
И звёзд ночной полёт…
Меня мое сердце
В тревожную даль зовёт.
I learnd Russian in the past in school, many years ago in the GDR.
You do not need any change of keyboard layout to type Russian text :-)

! Note that, on German keyboards, the @-sign disappears when [Q] is

! putting it on SHIFT-[3], replacing the mainly useless paragraph
! symbol (which still remains accessible with ALTGR-SHIFT-[3]).
keysym 3 = 3 at at paragraph
! Done...
! Matters of taste:
! Have VE on [V] or [W]?
! On the net, quite a few people have VE on [W] and ZHE on [V].
! Have YERU on [ and YA on [#], for German layout?
! Have SHA and SHCHA next to each other on punctuation keys?
! On Swedish keyboards, you can have YA on [.
! (Rather than on non-existent [... :)
!
! Research question:
! Are there any sensible keys where the missing letters should be
! mapped by default? The motivation of this question is to avoid
! the necessity for (and the amount of) editing required to get
! this all to work.
